DIFFERENT TYPES OF T-SHIRT PRINTING METHODS

Printing Methods for Promotional T-Shirt

There's no better way to differentiate your apparel (T-Shirt) from the rest by adding your corporate logo or custom design. That's what we are here to do for you at Colors and Impressions. We help you to add your Logo, Design, Brand or Product Photos to a wide range of fabrics (Fabric Range already discussed in our previous Blog-Post "DIFFERENT FABRICS FOR PROMOTIONAL T-SHIRTS") using different printing methods / techniques.

Some of the Best Types of Printing Methods for Promotional T-Shirts:

1. Screen Printing
2. Direct To Garments (DTG)
3. Dye Sublimation Printing
4. Heat Press Printing
4a. Sublimation Transfer Printing Method
4b. Transfer Paper (Light and Dark) Printing Method
4c. Vinyl Cutting (CAD) Method
4d. Plastisol Transfer (Indirect Screen Printing)
5. Embroidery

1.) Screen Printing
Screen printing is one of the oldest printing methods around.
- Great for Large Quantities and Simple Designs.
- Each Color is applied individually - so good for small number of colors in design.
- Very Durable and high quality output.
- Not for Complex design, small quantities.
- Can do on any Fabric.

2.) Direct To Garment (DTG)
Direct to Garment (DTG) method is a relatively new method in T-shirt printing industry, was introduced only some years back.
- As the name suggests it involves Printing Directly on the Garment (t-shirt). It is printed using a DTG Printer.
- Can print very complex designs with full of colors but one t-shirt at a time.
- Good for Cotton Fabric only.
- DTG Printers and Ink used are very expensive (Very high initial investment).
- Not economical for larger quantities.

3.) Dye Sublimation Printing
Dye Sublimation Printing Method is great for big and complex designs. If you see a shirt that is covered in print, it was most likely produced using this method. Its a Fabric Roll printing Method.
- Dye sublimation can only be used for white/ light fabrics.
- It gives best results on polyester fabrics, it is not for Cotton.
- Can print any design, any pattern or range of colours.
- printing is extremely long lasting.

4.) Heat Press Printing
This is the method of printing in which we apply heat and pressure to transfer the design on fabric. Also known as Heat Transfer Printing method.
Heat Transfer printing can be performed in a few different ways, like : Sublimation Transfer, Inkjet Transfer with Light-Dark Transfer Paper, Vinyl Transfer, Plastisol Transfer etc.

4a.) Sublimation Transfer Printing Method
Sublimation Transfer Printing can only be done with Special Sublimation Ink and Transfer Paper only but only upto size of A4 or A3 only.

Vinyl Cutting method is printing technique most commonly used for printing the numbers, names, and logos onto CAD-Cut vinyl material and then heat pressing them on sports t-shirts or jerseys etc.

5.) Embroidery
This is not printing in the conventional sense but a standard way of decorating a T-Shirt. This is the ideal and most widely used technique for corporate t-shirts and corporate shirts. Embroidery is the oldest form of t-shirt printing.
- Embroidery looks classy and elegant.
- Embroidery is extremely durable and long lasting
- very fine designs with multiple colours is not possible.
