T-Shirt Fabric - Common Fabrics for Promotional T-Shirts

There is a wide range of Different Fabrics and Blended Fabrics that are commonly used to make Custom T-Shirts and there are a lot of factors that people consider when it comes to T-Shirt Fabrics. Each type of fabric has its own Advantages and Disadvantages (various pros and cons), and no one is better than the other - you just have to make sure that you choose the right one for you. The fabric of the t-shirt plays a big part not only in the Design and Printing, but in the way it feels and the way it’s worn. Some t-shirt fabrics hold ink better than others, and others will last longer. If you know the difference between the fabrics, you're going to make a better decision.

Different Types of Fabrics for Promotional T-Shirts with Features and Methods of Printing

1.) Cotton

Cotton (100% Cotton Fabric) is a Natural Fabric. Cotton is Soft, Comfortable, Breathable and Gentle on all skins. Cotton is more moisture Absorbent but prone to shrinkage and slow to dry. Cotton is a all time Favorite Fabric.

Cotton T-Shirts are good for all methods of Printings except Sublimation Printing method. 

2.) PolyCot

Polycot as the name suggests - its a blend of Cotton and Polyester. It has Features of both Cotton and Polyester and one of the Best Fabric for Promotional T-Shirts. It has features like Soft and more Durable, less shrinkage and maintains shape & color for longer period, but it can be irritating to sensitive skin. 

Polyester Cotton T-Shirts are good for all methods of Printing except DTG (Direct To Garment) Method.

3.) Polyester

In Simpler Words - Polyester is a man-made Synthetic Fiber. Polyester Fabric is Light Weight, Strong, Flexible and Super Durable, Doesn't Shrink or Wrinkle and Quick Drying Features, but is not Breathable and can irritate to Skin. 

Polyester Cotton T-Shirts are good for all methods of Printing except DTG (Direct To Garment) Method. Polyester is Best for Sublimation.  

4.) Nylon

Nylon another Synthetic Fabric which is exceptionally strong, even stronger than polyester. Nylon is Lightweight, Strong, Waterproof, Non-Absorbent but Quick Drying, Wind-Resistant, Doesn't Shrink, Not Breathable and good for raincoats, wind-cheaters jackets, Umbrellas, backpacks, bags etc. 

Nylon T-Shirts are good for all methods of Printing except DTG (Direct To Garment) Method. 

5.) Drifit / Lycra / Spandex

Spandex again a Synthetic Fabric - got its name because it's an anagram for the word "expands". The primary benefit of spandex as a fabric is it's unparalleled elasticity. Also known as elastane or Lycra, spandex is the stretchiest, most flexible fabric around. You usually won't see apparel fabric that's made from more than 15% spandex. So the Spandex is Super Elastic (Stretchy and flexible - 4 Way stretch), Soft, Strong, Durable and Comfortable in wearing but not Breathable. It is Good for Sportswear.

All Methods of Printing can be done on T-Shirts except DTG (Direct To Garment) Method and sometime Sublimation.
